During the Stockhausen Courses Kuerten 1999 Michele Marelli, Karin De Fleyt and Marc Maes met for the first time.
They had each prepared several solo pieces for their respective instruments: clarinet, flute and synthesizer and were chosen to perform in the participants’s concerts, which gave them the opportunity to work with Karlheinz Stockhausen for the first time. At that time the idea to work on other Stockhausen compositions was born. An enormous respect for the music of Stockhausen and a deep friendship among these three musicians made them decide to dedicate a large part of their professional lives to Stockhausen’s music.
Their collaboration lead this Stockhausen Trio to performances of :
AVE (for alto flute and bassethorn),
DER KINDERFÄNGER (for alto flute and electronic music),
DER KLEINE HARLEKIN ( for clarinet ) ,
ELUFA (for flute and bassethorn) ,
FLAUTINA ( for flute, piccolo flute and alto flute ) ,
FLÖTE AUS ORCHESTERFINALISTEN (for flute and electronic music),
KLAVIERSTÜCK XVI (for piano, synthesizer and electronic music),
FREIA (version for flute and version for bassethorn),
SUSANI (for bassethorn),
SUSANI’S ECHO (for alto flute),
TRAUMFORMEL (for bassethorn),
WOCHENKREIS (for bassethorn and synthesizer),
YPSILON (version for flute).
ZUNGENSPITZENTANZ (for piccolo flute solo or with synthesizer and for Eb clarinet solo),
In addition they performed in the Stockhausen Ensemble for the world premières of EUROPA GRUSS (for winds and synthesizers) and STOP UND START (for 6 instrumental groups) and the recording of CD 64 of the Stockhausen Verlag.
Aware the difficulties and the specific demands of Stockhausen’s music the Stockhausen Trio now performs in the international scene, realising all sound and lighting requirements and performing from memory, with movements & a unique costume for each piece.
